Abstract
La migración haitiana en Chile ha crecido considerablemente en los últimos años, transformando el panorama demográfico y social del país. Debido a esto, los migrantes han tenido que enfrentar grandes desafíos principalmente por la barrera idiomática en tramitaciones legales y de salud, ya que la falta de dominio del español limita su acceso a servicios esenciales y oportunidades de integración social y económica. Este proyecto explora el papel del intérprete como facilitador para superar esa barrera en dichos contextos, al igual que las otras medidas que se toman para promover la inclusión de los migrantes que no hablan español. Para esto, señalamos el impacto de la labor y apoyo de los intérpretes en distintos rubros sociales, comenzando por una parte de historia de los primeros intérpretes en diferentes lugares del mundo, hasta su trabajo en la actualidad en nuestro país como tutores lingüísticos. También describimos brevemente lo que fue la crisis migratoria en Haití e investigamos las otras herramientas y medidas que se han implementado en el país para mejorar la integración de la población migrante a la sociedad chilena y proteger sus derechos enfrentando el menosprecio social por la disparidad de idiomas.

Abstract
The number of Haitian migrants in Chile has increased significantly in recent years, transforming the demographic and social situation within the country. Due to this, migrants have faced serious challenges mostly caused by the language barrier in legal and health procedures, as the lack of fluency in Spanish limits their access to basic services and social and economic integration opportunities. This project explores the interpreter's role as a facilitator in overcoming this barrier in such contexts, as well as other measures taken to promote the inclusion of non-Spanish-speaking migrants. For this purpose, we point out the impact of the interpreters’ work and support in different social areas, starting with a part of the history of the first interpreters in different parts of the world, up to their current work in our country as language mentors. We also briefly describe the migration crisis in Haiti and research the other tools and measures the country has implemented to improve the integration of the migrant population into Chilean society and protect their rights by addressing the social disparity of languages.
