| dc.description.abstract | No solo en Chile el asunto migratorio y el envejecimiento de la población estema de preocupación y discusión, se espera que entre el 2000 y el 2050, laproporción de la población mundial que tiene 60 años o más se duplicará, y pasaráde 11% a 22%. Se prevé que el número absoluto de personas de 60 años o másaumentará de 900 millones en el 2015 a 1.400 millones para el 2030, y 2.100millones para el 2050, y podría llegar a 3.200 millones en el 2100 (1). Entre el 2025y el 2030, la esperanza de vida en América Latina y el Caribe aumentará a 80,7años para las mujeres y 74,9 años para los hombres, y las proyecciones paraEstados Unidos y Canadá revelan cifras aún más altas: 83,3 años para las mujeresy 79,3 años para los hombres.
