Abstract
El creciente interés académico y social respecto a la recuperación e incorporación de espacios pertenecientes a las mujeres nos impulsaron a realizar este proyecto. Junto a esto, la escasa información respecto a la historia de nuestro campo, la traducción e interpretación, nos llevó a la siguiente pregunta, ¿qué espacios y roles ocupaban las mujeres dentro de estas disciplinas siglos atrás? Es desde ahí que en la siguiente investigación se propuso a resaltar la importancia de las mujeres traductoras e intérpretes del siglo XVI al XIX en el continente americano; además, también nació la necesidad de traer esta preocupación a territorio cercano en un intento de recuperar parte de nuestra historia e identidad americana, pues sabemos que gran parte de la historia y los estudios de ella se concentran en los acontecimientos de Europa. Por ende, revivir la relevancia de estas traductoras y poner sobre la mesa la importancia de estudiarlas fue la misión principal de este escrito.

Abstract
Society’s growing concern about the recovery and inclusion of places which belong to women is what led to the idea of bringing them to these fields. Since interpreting and translation are two activities that date back a long time ago, just like language does, this led us to this next question: what places did women take on and what roles did they play in these activities during previous centuries? Thus, the main focus of this research, which is to bring the work of these women translators and interpreters to the light, specifically those who lived through the 16th to the 19th century, emerges; furthermore, in an effort to reclaim a piece of our American history and identity, because we know that a great amount of focus and study is given to Europe, we have the need to illuminate some of the dimmest parts of our own territory and the people who inhabited it. Therefore, to understand the relevance of these translators and to present the significance of studying them is the main concern of this research.
